Pet Adoptions

Campbell County now offers free pet adoption services to local citizens.

Adoption Process

  1. Visit the Animal Care and Control Facility, or the Campbell County Friends of Animal Control website to choose a pet for adoption.
  2. Complete and sign an adoption contract, indicating the animal will be:
    • Spayed / neutered given a vaccination by a licensed veterinarian
    • Licensed in accordance with local laws / codes
  3. Begin the necessary paperwork and return at the end of the required holding period to collect your chosen pet.

Special Notes
  • Any veterinary or licensing expenses are the responsibility of the adopting party.
  • Animals sheltered at the Campbell County facility are required to be held for five days (stray animal) or ten days (collared animal). Animals sheltered for the duration of the confinement period are available for immediate adoption, upon completion of the necessary forms.

Trespassing Animals
Chapter 4, Article I, Section 4-3.2 of Campbell County Code, states: "It shall be unlawful for the owner of any animal, after being requested by the owner or tenant of any premises not to permit the animal to trespass upon such premises, to allow any such animal to go upon or remain upon such premises. Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a Class 4 misdemeanor."
