Emergency Resources
The Campbell County Public Safety Department works within a
local system of emergency management and response, while functioning
within protocols spelled out by the Department of Homeland Security and
FEMA. These operating principles and procedures are spelled out for all
localities in the National Response Framework (NRF) and the National
Incident Management System (NIMS).
As citizen preparedness and safety education play key roles in minimizing risks to life and property, all residents are encouraged to become familiar with local, state, and federal safety programs and operating procedures. National Response Framework (NRF)
The National Response Framework outlines an all-hazards approach to handling small-scale, local emergencies to large-scale, national catastrophes. National Incident Management System (NIMS)
The Incident Management System (NIMS) focuses on preparedness measures, emergency information/communications, command and management protocols, and on-going sustainability in the event of a catastrophe. This system is designed to operate at all levels of emergency management/response and provides a mechanism for an organized and expandable approach to any incident. Virginia Department of Emergency Management
The Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) collaborates and coordinates at federal, state, and local levels to support emergency management efforts in the Commonwealth as well as provide timely crisis-related resources to localities, public safety agencies, volunteer organizations, and citizens.
