[ARCHIVED] Campbell County Animal Control to Hold Drive-Through Rabies Clinic May 27

dog and cat for news item

Campbell County Animal Control will hold a drive-through Rabies Clinic on Saturday, May 27, 8 – 10 a.m. at the Campbell County Animal Control Facility, located at 322 Dennis Riddle Dr., Rustburg (between the Campbell County Technical Center and Yellow Branch Elementary School).
Rustburg Veterinary Clinic will be conducting the clinic. The rabies vaccine will be given at a cost of $5 each. Dogs and cats can be vaccinated. You do not have to be a resident of Campbell County to participate.
You should keep your dogs and cats in your vehicle. A veterinarian will give the vaccinations to the animals in the vehicle. Anyone who is in line before 10 a.m. will be served.
All dogs and cats in Campbell County are required to be vaccinated for rabies starting at four months of age. An animal’s first rabies shot is good for one year. Subsequent rabies vaccinations given close to expiration date are good for three years. If your animal has had a previous rabies vaccination, please bring the old certificate for proof. You must have proof of prior vaccination to get the three-year vaccination.
It is important to save your copy of the vaccination certificate.
In order to purchase a dog license in Campbell County, you are required to present a current rabies certificate to the Campbell County Treasurer. Dog licenses are required by the end of January for the current year. On the day of the Rabies Clinic, envelopes will be available for you to put a check and your copy of the rabies certificate in. Animal Control will deliver the envelopes to the Treasurer for you. The Treasurer will then mail your license and your rabies certificate to you.
