Road conditions: Surface water/flooding on roadways and downed trees limbs will remain travel hazards throughout the County until this storm passes through our area overnight. Remember to never cross flooded roadways. TURN AROUND – DON’T DROWN. VDOT and other service crews are working to clear roadways of debris as quickly as possible. Travel only if necessary, drive slowly and be alert for debris as well as service workers on the roadways.

Message from Public Safety Director, Tracy Fairchild: “We encourage you to stay home and avoid traveling if at all possible,” said Tracy Fairchild. “Wind gusts, rain, and darkness can make road conditions dangerous. Stay home and stay safe. This measure also allows service crews to work safely along roadways as they restore power and clear debris.”

Wind and Power Outages: Wind gusts combined with saturated soil are causing downed trees/powerlines and power outages throughout the locality. Please call your service provider directly if you experience a power or internet outage. Only call 911 if you are experiencing an emergency. Electric company crews are working now to restore electricity, but reconnection may be sporadic until this storm system passes out of the area. If using a generator, be sure to place it safely outdoors to avoid toxic fumes.

Traffic Signals: If any traffic signals are affected by power outages, remember to navigate them the same as you would at a 4-way stop.

Additional instructions and service provider contact information for power outages can be found at http://www.campbellcountyva.gov/248/Power-Outages

Storm Debris: Any natural storm debris (downed limbs, trees, etc.) should be taken to the Region 2000 landfill site, located at 449 Livestock Road, Rustburg, VA. Please use caution if removing any yard debris generated by the storm.  Visithttp://www.campbellcountyva.gov/230/Debris-Disposal for tips on how and where to dispose of these materials safely.
