[ARCHIVED] Campbell County Seeks Citizens’ Input on Comprehensive Plan Update

Comp Plan Update 2019

Rustburg, VA - In alignment with the Code of Virginia , Section § 15.2-2223, the Campbell County Department of Community Development is seeking public input on the Campbell County Comprehensive Plan’s five-year update. Citizens are encouraged to provide feedback on various long-range community planning topics, including transportation, housing, education, economic development, natural resources, recreation, public services and other issues pertaining to County planning and development efforts.

For citizens’ convenience, several methods of conveying insights are available. Residents may complete and submit an on-line feedback form by visiting www.campbellcountyva.gov and clicking on the Comprehensive Plan Update news item. This electronic survey provides fields for sharing views on the County’s strengths, areas of needed improvement, future opportunities and potential challenges.

Citizens may also email Campbell County Community Development at communitydevelopment@campbellcountyva.gov; send written comments to Campbell County Department of Community Development, Comprehensive Plan, P.O. Box 100, Rustburg, VA 24588; or contact the Community Development personnel directly by calling (434) 332-9780, 283-9780 or 592-9780.

Community Development staff urge residents to read through the current Comprehensive Plan, which was adopted in December of 2014. This document, also found on the County website, indicates various trends affecting the physical development of the land as well as service models within the locality. It also serves as a tool for anticipating and dealing with change in both the private and public sectors over the next 15 years. Citizens are asked to submit views based on the changes they wish to see local officials consider or planning elements they would like to see continued.

“This is an opportunity for local constituents to express their opinions regarding how Campbell County will approach growth, development and other community issues over the upcoming decades,” said Paul Harvey, Director of Community Development. “We value citizens’ input as this is a collaborative effort toward setting our County’s overarching goals and future plans.”

Public hearings will be scheduled in the fall for County residents to comment on revised planning elements, prior to the Board of Supervisors voting on a final plan.

If you have questions regarding Campbell County’s comprehensive planning process or schedule, please contact Austin Mitchell, Zoning and Subdivision Administrator, at (434) 332-9780, 283-9780 or 592-9780.
