The National Weather Service is calling for increasingly hot temperatures for Campbell County and the surrounding area as the week progresses, with temperatures in the 90s expected. On Saturday and Sunday, the heat index is expected to reach over 100 degrees, and in some areas the heat index could reach over 105 degrees.
It’s important to take precautions during extreme heat to protect your safety and the safety of your family, including your pets.
The Campbell County Department of Public Safety offers tips on staying safe when the temperatures are high, including the following:
• Stay in air conditioning if possible.

• Limit exposure to the sun.
• Drink plenty of water.
• Limit alcoholic beverages.
• Dress in loose-fitting, light weight, and light colored clothes.
