The regularly scheduled meeting of the Campbell County Board of Supervisors for September 7, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. has been canceled.
At the Board of Supervisors meeting on September 20, 2010 at 1:00 p.m., the Board will have proposed to it for passage a resolution the purpose of which is to authorize the County Attorney to undertake on behalf of this Board the acquisition of certain easements for a groundwater extraction and treatment system on property generally known as Twin Oaks Mobile Home Park.

Effective immediately, Campbell County's ban on all outdoor burning, both public and commercial, has been officially lifted as recent rainfall has caused dry conditions to improve. The leaf burning ban (implemented in November of 2009) will remain in effect until further notice for the Timberlake area of the county.

For Kid's Sake Safety Day

Visit the 12th annual For Kid's Sake Safety Day on Saturday, September 18 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the River Ridge Mall in Lynchburg. Local law enforcement divisions, including the Campbell County Sheriff's Office, will present safety information, demonstrations, and a variety of safety displays. While supplies last, kids get a free t-shirt!

On hand will be safety and law enforcement equipment demonstrations and displays including SWAT vehicles, DUI/Airbag simulator, firearm safety demonstrations, armored vehicles, K-9 demonstrations, and bicycle safety demonstrations.

County Lifts Ban on Outdoor Burning

Effective immediately, Campbell County's ban on all outdoor burning, both public and commercial, has been officially lifted as recent rainfall has caused dry conditions to improve. 

The leaf burning ban (implemented in November of 2009) will remain in effect until further notice for the Timberlake area of the county. This includes areas west of the railroad tracks, located west of Lawyers Road and north of Goggins Road and Buffalo Creek; the ban likewise encompasses the Wildwood subdivision and Crest Haven Estates.

Public Notice of Resolution

At the regularly scheduled Board of Supervisors meeting on September 20, 2010 at 1:00 p.m., the Campbell County Board of Supervisors will have proposed to it for passage a resolution the purpose of which is to authorize the County Attorney to undertake on behalf of this Board the acquisition of certain easements for a groundwater extraction and treatment system on property generally known as Twin Oaks Mobile Home Park.

The resolution will authorize the acquisition, by condemnation or otherwise, of .57 acres of easement on property owned by Modern Home Construction, Inc. and 3.61 acres of easement on property owned by Claude M. Royal and Virginia H. Royal.

A copy of the full text of the resolution, including a map showing the easements and wells to be taken is on file in the office of the County Administrator.

In 2010, Campbell County employees again participated in the United Way of Central Virginia's annual Day of Caring.

Day of Caring provides an opportunity for employees to help others through hands-on experience and see where their donations go and how agency programs are affecting people’s lives.

eWaste Recycling Days in 2010

Hazardous waste and eWaste recycling is a free service for residents of City of Lynchburg, Counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Campbell and Nelson County, and Towns of Altavista and Brookneal. The remaining 2010 Household Hazardous Waste & Electronic Recycling Collection days at the Concord Turnpike Regional Landfill are:

  • October 9, 2010 (Saturday) - 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (noon)
  • All participants must present a photo ID. Please bring items in non-returnable containers.
