Position Descriptions 

 Assistant Director   

The Campbell County Public Works Department is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented and skilled Assistant Director. This position is responsible for directing various functions of the Public Works Department and oversees project management work of the Maintenance and In-House Construction Divisions, serves in place of the Director of Public Works in his absence and supervises Public Works employees; initiates in house studies and/or reviews consultant studies relative to building projects and long term maintenance of the closed County Landfill; plans additions of renovations to County facilities in collaboration with department heads, advises the Deputy County Administrator on technical matters in relation to the operation of the organization. This position requires knowledge of engineering techniques as applied to public works functions; the ability to prepare technical drawings, and experience in budgeting as well as the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.  Education requirements include a Bachelors Degree as well as five (5) years experience. Civil Engineering degree and prior local government experience preferred.  Previous applicants need not apply.

Office Manager I The Campbell County Library in Rustburg seeks an organized and responsible candidate to fill the position of Office Manager I, with a strong emphasis on leaderships and customer service skills.

Responsibilities include:

·         Coordinating and executing circulation scheduling, functioning and coverage·         System-wide holds and overdue notifications

·         Provide basic reference and reader’s advisory services for adults and children

·         Assist with collection management, including weeding as directed

·         Supervises and assists public use of available technology

·         Works evenings and Saturday shifts in rotation

·         Serves as primary liaison to the Bedford Public Library System, regarding circulation matters

·         Supervises front desk staff and courier ; performs annual and mid-year performance reviews; and various personnel functions

·         Coordinates data management, including statistical compilation for the entire system

·         Manages volunteers and is the liaison to the SCEP and VIEW programs

·         Other duties as assigned.

Minimum requirements for this position include graduation from high school or GED equivalent, Bachelors degree preferred; and two years of related experience; strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Reports to the Library Director.

Starting salary range: $26,175-$29,667 based on qualifications and experience

Administrative Assistant I  

Campbell County Youth, Adult, and Community Services department is looking for an organized and responsible candidate to fill the position of Administrative Assistant I. This position will be responsible for all administrative functions of the Youth, Adult, and Community Services Department including the grant programs of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), Comprehensive Services Act (CSA), Virginia Juvenile Community Crime Control Act (VJCCCA), and the Strategic Prevention Framework-State Incentive Grant (SPF-SIG). General duties include but are not limited to serving as agency receptionist, acting as recording secretary for board committees, updating the department website as content author, creating and maintaining volunteer and client files, serving as records management clerk, coding invoices for payment, handling mailings, ordering and maintaining office supply inventories, assisting with billing and payment collections, assisting with various public relations and volunteer recruitment and recognition activities, entering and tallying survey data, and other duties as required. Minimum requirements for this position include two years of college or graduation from a business college and two years of related experience. Desirable traits include strong organization skills and customer service orientation, attention to detail and expertise in a variety of software applications.

Communications Officer  

The Department of Public Safety is looking for organized, forward thinking, and motivated candidates to fill two Communications Officer positions. The ideal candidate must possess excellent interpersonal skills to dispatch law enforcement, fire, rescue and general governmental mobile units and other personnel in response to emergency and non-emergency situations via telephone, radio and computer systems must be willing to work flexible shifts, nights, weekends and holidays. Must have graduated from high school or completion of GED equivalent, and possess one (1) year of experience.  Additional education and/or experience may be substituted where applicable.

Starting salary range: $26,175-$29,167 based on qualification and experience

Custodian I  

The Campbell County Public Works Department is seeking two motivated, detail-oriented and skilled part time Custodians. This position is responsible for the cleanliness of County office buildings.  Applicants must be able to organize and prioritize tasks in order to complete daily and weekly duties. The ideal candidate should have the ability to operate cleaning equipment, and be knowledgeable of commercial cleaning practices. This position requires the ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.  This position requires a High School diploma or GED and two years of related experience. This is a second shift position.

Starting pay rate is $8.52-$9.73 depending upon qualifications and experience.
