Employment Opportunities

Environmental Code Enforcement Officer  

The Campbell County Department of Community Development is looking for a motivated, detail oriented, and customer service oriented candidate to fill the position of Environmental Code Enforcement Officer I. This position is responsible for assisting the Environmental Manager in the day to day operations of the Environmental Program; enforces the provisions of the Virginia Erosion and Sediment Control and Storm water programs; comprehends, interprets, and enforces other environmental ordinances; independently inspects residential and commercial construction sites and existing storm water management facilities for code compliance and keeps records of all inspections; assists the public calling or visiting the office, provides permit application information and issues permits; and also prepares and presents cases in court for code violations.

This position requires completion of two years of college and one year of experience and general knowledge in a construction related field. Experience as a storm water or erosion and sediment control inspector with state certifications is desirable. Additional college level work in civil engineering or construction is highly preferred.

Starting Salary Range: $28,859-$32,156, depending experience and qualifications. This position closes September 16, 2015 at 5:00 p.m.

 Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney     

The Campbell County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney II.  This position will focus primarily on the prosecution of domestic violence, sex based offenses and crimes against children.  The position requires a demonstrated commitment to prosecution and to the type of work listed above.  Requires ability to work independently, advise law-enforcement on the legal aspects of criminal investigations and requires the ability to research and prepare persuasive oral and written arguments and material. Admission to the Virginia Bar and prior criminal law trial experience required.  Prior prosecution experience preferred. Applicant is subject to a criminal background check.  This position is open until filled. 

Salary Range: Salary is $61,208-$90,777, depending on experience; will consider applicants with less experience at a lower pay grade.

County Assessor  

The Campbell County Department of Management Services is seeking a forward-thinking, organized and motivated County Assessor with excellent interpersonal skills to direct, plan and organize the Real Estate Office as well as the appraisal and assessment of real property in the County.  The primary duties of the County Assessor include but are not limited to: managing and participating in reassessing all real estate in the County on a schedule prescribed by the Board of Supervisors; overseeing the development, preparation, and maintenance of the residential and commercial appraisal systems within the CAMA system; and acting as the County’s representative to the Board of Equalization and overseeing coordination of Board of Equalization processes.  This position manages and directs the Real Estate Office with a supporting staff of 5.  The ideal candidate will have project management experience, experience with CAMA systems and GIS, extensive knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, and techniques of appraising real estate, and thorough knowledge of state laws and local ordinances covering the assessment of real estate.  This position requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training and experience where applicable, six (6) years of related experience, four (4) years of supervisory experience, and a professional designation as a CAE, SPRA, and/or MAI. 

Salary Range: Dependent upon qualifications and experience. An excellent benefit package is provided.

County Assessment Manager
