Employment Opportunities

Assistant Registrar  

The Campbell County Registrar’s Office is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Registrar/Office Manager I. The ideal candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, computer, and interpersonal skills. This position works independently and in team efforts to support the office of General Registrar, Campbell County Electoral Board and the Virginia State Board of Elections.  This position is responsible for all department operations in the absence of the General Registrar, including the supervision of clerical and temporary staff.  Assist the Electoral Board and General Registrar in implementing the department’s mission of verifying, recording and maintaining accurate records of the registered voters in compliance with the latest edition of election laws of the State of Virginia.  Selected candidate is appointed by the General Registrar.  Upon selection, oath of office will be administered by the Clerk of Court.  The term of this position never exceeds the term of the incumbent General Registrar.  Minimum requirements include graduation from high school or GED equivalent and two years of related experience. Desired qualifications include: An Associate’s degree from an accredited college with concentration in accounting or business administration; knowledge of County government and departmental programs; and one year of supervisory experience. Must be bondable, and must be able to lift 30 pounds.

Starting salary: $26,175-$29,667, depending on qualifications and experience. Background check required.

 Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney   

The Campbell County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney.  This position will focus primarily on the prosecution of domestic violence, sex based offenses and crimes against children.  The position requires a demonstrated commitment to prosecution and to the type of work listed above.  Requires ability to work independently, advise law-enforcement on the legal aspects of criminal investigations and requires the ability to research and prepare persuasive oral and written arguments and material. Admission to the Virginia Bar and prior criminal law trial experience required.  Prior prosecution experience preferred.  Applicant is subject to a criminal background check.  This position is open until filled.

County Assessor  

The Campbell County Department of Management Services is seeking a forward-thinking, organized and motivated County Assessor with excellent interpersonal skills to direct, plan and organize the Real Estate Office as well as the appraisal and assessment of real property in the County.  The primary duties of the County Assessor include but are not limited to: managing and participating in reassessing all real estate in the County on a schedule prescribed by the Board of Supervisors; overseeing the development, preparation, and maintenance of the residential and commercial appraisal systems within the CAMA system; and acting as the County’s representative to the Board of Equalization and overseeing coordination of Board of Equalization processes.  This position manages and directs the Real Estate Office with a supporting staff of 5.  The ideal candidate will have project management experience, experience with CAMA systems and GIS, extensive knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, and techniques of appraising real estate, and thorough knowledge of state laws and local ordinances covering the assessment of real estate.  This position requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training and experience where applicable, six (6) years of related experience, four (4) years of supervisory experience, and a professional designation as a CAE, SPRA, and/or MAI.

County Assessment Manager
