Drive-Thru Rabies Clinic to be Offered on November 14, 2020 in Town of Brookneal

RUSTBURG, VA -   Campbell County Animal Control through a partnership with Corban Veterinary Services will host a Drive-Through Rabies Clinic on Saturday, November 14, from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m..  Located in the town of Brookneal at Long’s Farm Supply (1103 Lynchburg Ave.), this collaborative effort is being offered is to provide rabies vaccination opportunities to a rural areas where citizens may experience difficulty in reaching veterinary assistance.
 
Dogs and cats can be vaccinated. You do not have to be a resident of Campbell County to participate.  The rabies vaccine will be given at a cost of $10.00 each. Cash, and checks made out to Corban Veterinary Services will be accepted. NO CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD PAYMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED.  
 
To serve as many guests as possible, lines will form in the large parking lot south of Long’s Farm Supply, and forms will be distributed to those waiting for completion.  In an effort to provide safe dissemination during this time of Covid-19, please bring a pen and clipboard or something to write on as these items will not be circulated.  Please note: Printed forms will be available in advance at Longs and at Campbell County Animal Control Facility or email: jbdavid@co.campbell.va.us to request a form.
 
We will strive to serve everyone as quickly as possible. Anyone who is in line before 2:00 p.m. will be served. Animals should remain in vehicles; cats must be in a carrier.
 
All dogs and cats in Campbell County are required to be vaccinated for rabies starting at four months of age. An animal’s first rabies shot is good for one (1) year. Subsequent rabies vaccinations given close to expiration date are good for three years.
 
If your animal has had a previous rabies vaccination, please bring the old certificate for proof. You must have proof of prior vaccination to get the three-year vaccination.  It is important to save your copy of the vaccination certificate.
 
In order to purchase a dog license in Campbell County, you are required to present a current rabies certificate to the Campbell County Treasurer. Dog licenses are required by the end of January for the current year.  Rabies certificates will not be given at clinic but will be mailed to pet owners.
