CAMPBELL COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE ENCOURAGES CITIZENS TO LOCK VEHICLES AND SECURE BELONGINGS TO AVOID THEFT
RUSTBURG, VA - The Campbell County Sheriff's Office would like to provide a community crime alert about an increase in thefts from vehicles being reported in the Timberlake area of the locality.
“Most of the vehicles affected were left unlocked and many had items left in plain view for thieves to see,” said Major Brandon Epperson. “As a result, we have increased and intensified patrols, but citizens can help prevent these vehicle related thefts if they take their things out of their vehicles and lock their car doors every time they get out.”
In addition, Epperson suggests that the public should always lock their doors and roll up windows when they park. Valuables and other items should never be left in view; they should be hidden or locked in the trunk prior to arrival at the driver’s destination.
"Also, check your home security footage for any suspicious activity, and report it to us," notes Epperson.
Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activity to the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office at (434) 332-9574 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-798-5900.
