RUSTBURG, VA - August is here, and with it comes the close of summer break and a flurry of back-to-school preparations to provide our children with all of the necessary resources to start their school year off right. This very act of investing in our children’s success aligns perfectly with our recognition of August as National Child Support Awareness Month.

Here in Virginia, through various social services programs, staff assist parents in meeting their  obligations to their children. Working together with families, our holistic community is dedicated to ensuring children have what they need to grow and thrive. That’s why this year’s theme is spot on: “Together we help shape the future.”

All 50 states celebrate August as Child Support Awareness Month, and this year Campbell County DSS would like to honor those parents who make the effort to be an exceptional example in the lives of their children.

Children imitate the actions of those around them. From a young age, children observe the way parents behave, the decisions they make, how they solve problems, and the dedication they show to their family and friends. Virginia Social Services and your local child support agencies are proud to assist parents in setting positive examples that their children will emulate and pass on to future generations.

Remember, there are programs to help ALL parents.
