SBDC and Campbell County to Host Business Planning Class
RUSTBURG: The Small Business Development Center, Lynchburg Region, will present a business planning class at the Timbrook Library, 18891 Leesville Road, Lynchburg, Virginia, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on June 28th. Established small businesses and startups will both benefit from this interactive, hands-on workshop.
There is no cost to attend the Business Model Canvas session. To register, go to Start Small Campbell: Start Your Business Plan (virginiasbdc.org).
Business Model Canvas (BMC) will be used in the course. Attendees will work through this one-page document, which contains nine “building blocks” that represent various aspects of a business. BMCs provide a quick overview of the business and explain how each part fits together. Working through BMCs in a group works well as it fosters discussion, creativity, and analysis, which, in turn, provides an excellent starting point for writing. Participants will receive ongoing access to the Business Model Canvas, as well as the Start Smart Toolbox, a Google-drive filled both locality-specific and general business resources.
The course is part of Campbell County Department of Economic Development’s Start Small Campbell Grant Program. This $5,000 competitive grant can help stabilize small businesses in Campbell County during their first few years of operation while it establishes a clientele. Offered semi-annually, this grant's next application deadline is September 1, 2023.
