Campbell County Public Library System Offers Summer Events
The Campbell County Public Library’s Summer Reading Program events and activities are free and open to the public. All upcoming programs for children, teens, and adults can be found at https://campbellcountylibraries.org/summerreading/. Some are highlighted below:
Teen Art Contest
Teens ages 11 – 17 are invited to recreate a book cover. The creation must be 22? x 28”. To enter, email a rough draft of your art to campbellevents@co.campbell.va.us by July 7. If your submission is approved, you will be invited to come to a poster work day, and the book covers will be displayed during the Grand Finale Street Fair (July 31, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.). Voting for a winner will take place on that day, and the winner will receive a $50 gift card to a local business.
Around the World Family Night
Thursday, June 29, 5 – 7 p.m., Timbrook Library
CCPLS has partnered with Literacy Volunteers for an evening of family fun at the Timbrook Park Pavilion. Enjoy stories being read in a different language, crafts, lawn games, and a bonfire. Families are welcome to bring a picnic or snack. If you know a language and want to share it with us, contact the Events & Experiences Team at 434-313-3104 or campbellevents@co.campbell.va.us.
Picnic & Puzzles
Wednesday, June 28, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Timbrook Library
Pack a picnic, check out a new library book, read on our lawn, put together puzzles, and enjoy a relaxing time. For all ages, and we would love for generations to share stories with each other.

Come meet members of our community who work to make Campbell County a better place. Stations will be available where your family can learn about different aspects of community helpers. There will be stories, activities, meet and greets, and fun exploration. For ages 10 and under and their families. This event will be feature different community helpers at each location.
Starry Night at Red Hill
Friday, July 14, 8 – 10 p.m.
Red Hill, 1250 Red Hill Road, Brookneal
Enjoy an evening under the stars at Patrick Henry’s Red Hill. Tours of the grounds will be available at 8:10 p.m. and 8:40 p.m. After it gets dark, we will have an expert pointing out constellations in the night sky. Bring a blanket, find a spot in the scenic field, and have fun with your family. All ages are welcome.
Summer Reading Grand Finale Street Fair
Saturday, July 29, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
In and around Rustburg Library
This event is geared for the whole family and is a celebration of our community and the minutes we read this summer. It will include vendors, Historic Courthouse Planetarium, a dunk tank, photo ops, and fun activities. Even if you didn’t participate in the Summer Reading Program, you are still invited to attend. All ages are welcome.
