Campbell County Public Library System Announces Summer Programming & Events

Summer Reading Grand Finale Street Fair
Rustburg Library
Saturday, July 27, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Celebrate the end of Summer Reading with a street fair. The event is geared for the whole family and will include family friendly vendors/organizations, food trucks, and lots of activities. Inside and outside. You do not have to participate in the reading program to attend this event. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun.
Women’s Self-Defense Seminar
Timbrook Library
Wednesday, July 3, 2 – 4 p.m.
In this free program for adults, you will learn how to prevent unwanted and potentially intense situations with barriers of defense, situational awareness, tactics, and techniques from Warrior Success Academy. Space is limited, and online registration is required.
Tortoise & Hare Scavenger Hunt
Staunton River Memorial Library and the surrounding area in Altavista
Thursday, July 11, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
A town-wide scavenger hunt/race for all ages. Participate as a family or with friends. Bring your device and submit checkpoints through social media. No registration is required. Just check in at the Altavista library by 4 p.m. to start. The clues are geared toward kids/teens.
Starry Night at Patrick Henry’s Red Hill
Red Hill (1250 Red Hill Road, Brookneal)
Friday, July 12, 8 – 10 p.m.
Enjoy an evening under the stars. An expert will point out constellations in the night sky. Bring a blanket, find a spot in the scenic field, and have fun with your family. Our Pop-Up Library will make an appearance, as well.
Theatre Workshops
Timbrook Library
Saturday, July 13, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. (ages 8 – 11) and 1 – 2 p.m. (ages 12 – 17)
The library invites you to a Virginia Children’s Theatre practical performance workshop. Students will participate in theatrical activities as they learn how to think and act creatively by employing originality, imagination and expression (both physically, emotionally and verbally) in a performance setting. For ages 8 – 17. Online registration is required.
