Local Social Services Agencies to Offer Senior Awareness Day on October 18


RUSTBURG, VA - Senior Awareness Day, an annual event for seniors living in the region, will be on Friday, October 18, 2024 from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.  The event will be held at Rustburg High School, located at 1671 Village Hwy, Rustburg. No tobacco, alcohol or weapons allowed on premises. 


The event is sponsored by the Department of Social Services in the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, Campbell, and city of Lynchburg. It is free and open to the public. Please register for the event by calling 434-332-9807. Please register by September 27, 2024.

The theme for this year’s event is financial exploitation. There will be presentation by Campbell County Sheriff’s Office, information about community resources, food, vendors, and panel of professionals for questions and answers.

This informational event is designed to support adults in making decisions that will ensure the best possible outcomes for them as well as their families, and to provide a time for enrichment, shared learning, fellowship, and fun. Senior Awareness Day is a special day to encourage the well-being and independence of our seniors and especially to promote the prevention of adult abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
