Campbell County Sheriff’s Office Warns Community of Scams Targeting Residents

RUSTBURG, VA - Campbell County Sheriff's Office has received reports of four recent scams targeting residents in our area:

Fake Website Scam – Victims were tricked into paying for services using gift cards. No legitimate company asks for payment this way!
Fake Check Scam – Scammers send a fraudulent check and then demand part of the money back. The check will bounce, and you’ll lose your funds.
Duty Arrest Scam – Scammers claim you missed jury duty and must pay a bond to avoid arrest. They may even use a real deputy’s name. Don’t send money—call us first!
Package Delivery Scam – You get a message about a pending package requiring payment. Verify directly with the shipping company before taking action. 📦
