CAMPBELL COUNTY HOSTS GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY FOR NEW INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT AT SENECA COMMERCE PARK
RUSTBURG, VA – April 15, 2025 – Campbell County proudly hosts the official groundbreaking at Seneca Commerce Park to prepare the site for the construction of a 100,000-square-foot industrial building. The event takes place today at 4:00 PM in Rustburg, VA.
This $11 million industrial building project represents the largest initiative undertaken by the Campbell County Economic Development Department in over a decade and signals the beginning of multiple development projects at Seneca Commerce Park. In addition to the 100,000-square-foot facility, plans include a second 45,000-square-foot building and a pad-ready site on 3.5 acres—each designed to attract high-impact businesses and accelerate investment in the region.
These projects will collectively transform 17.3 acres of land, strategically positioning the County to attract new business and industry. Seven parcels—totaling more than 58.7 acres—remain available for future development within the park.
Once complete, this facility will stand as one of the few 100,000-square-foot industrial spaces in the Lynchburg region, offering the type of modern, flexible infrastructure sought after by expanding manufacturers and logistics companies.
This project is made possible through the vision and leadership of the Campbell County Board of Supervisors, who approved financing for the building’s construction, as well as critical grant support from the Virginia Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission ($404,000) and the Southeast Crescent Regional Commission ($202,000).
Looking ahead, Campbell County is actively pursuing funding to extend water infrastructure to the end of Ewing Drive, which would further enhance the park’s readiness for future development and ensure long-term infrastructure support for incoming businesses.
The groundbreaking ceremony features remarks from key partners and regional leaders:
- County Administrator Frank Rogers, Campbell County
- Representative John McGuire, U.S. House of Representatives (VA-5)
- Delegate Eric Zehr, Virginia House of Delegates, 51st District
- Commissioner Dale Moore, Virginia Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission
- Chairman Justin Carwile, Campbell County Board of Supervisors
- Chairman Vance Driskill, Campbell County Industrial Development Authority
- Director Nina Rezai, Campbell County Economic Development
Each speaker highlights the significance of this development to Campbell County’s future, emphasizing its role in job creation, regional growth, and long-term economic sustainability.
Attendees also receive a first look at the building’s preliminary design by Architectural Partners, whose architecture and engineering services were procured for this project in July 2024.
