Peaceful Resolution: Campbell County Sheriff’s Office, Partner Agencies Conclude Barricade Incident in Altavista

RUSTBURG, VA —  On March 4, 2026, the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office successfully resolved a barricade situation that resulted in the peaceful apprehension of a suspect.

Following a coordinated response by the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office, the Crisis Negotiations Team and the Special Response Team were able to safely resolve the incident and take the subject into custody without incident.

The individual has been identified as Ellis Wayne Lambert, 59, of 3564 Wards Road, Altavista.

Lambert was taken into custody without incident and no weapons were found on his person at the time of the arrest.

Lambert is currently charged with the following offenses out of Pittsylvania County:

• Breaking and Entering in violation of § 18.2-91 of the Code of Virginia

• Larceny in violation of § 18.2-95 of the Code of Virginia
