Sheriff Clark has over 40 years of law enforcement experience. He began his career at the Lynchburg Police Department in 1983. He retired from LPD in 2015 holding the rank of Captain. Sheriff Clark has leadership and supervisory experience in various divisions including Field/Patrol, Traffic Safety, SWAT, Street Crimes, Crime Prevention, School Resource Officer Service, K-9 Handling, Hostage Negotiations, Personnel and Training, as well as Community Relations. He has held several specialty certifications permitting him to instruct the following: Firearms, Defensive Tactics, Tactical Operations, and Hostage Negotiations.
He is a Graduate of several executive level leadership programs including the Police Executive Leadership School (University of Richmond), Administrative Officers Management Program (NC State University) and the Institute for Leadership in Changing Times (Virginia Tech). He has an Associates Degree from Central Virginia Community College in Administration of Justice and a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management and Development from Bluefield College.
In 2015, he was hired by the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office as a part-time Investigator investigating domestic violence and sexual assaults against women and children. He was elected Sheriff in Campbell County in November of 2019. Sheriff Clark was re-elected for his second term in 2023.
Sheriff Clark’s highest priorities are the safety of our children and teachers in our schools, the fight against illegal narcotics, and the investment in the success of the men and women of the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office by providing opportunities for training, advancement and personal growth.
