Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court Service Unit
The Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court Service Unit, an agency of the Department of Juvenile Justice, provides a full range of services to children and families under the jurisdiction of the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court.

The office phone number is 434-332-9533. An intake officer is on call 24 hours a day to handle criminal emergency complaints and can be reached after regular hours by calling the Sheriff’s Office dispatcher at 434-332-9574, 434-283-9574, or 434-592-9574.

Victim/Witness Assistance Program

The Victim/Witness Assistance Program, operating within the office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney, provides assistance to victims and witnesses of crime throughout the criminal justice process to ensure they are treated fairly and compassionately. This program also makes referrals to community services available to crime victims and witnesses.

Department of Corrections Adult Probation and Parole District 13 Office

The Department of Corrections Adult Probation and Parole District 13 office prepares background investigations on defendants for the Circuit Court and supervises individuals placed on probation by the courts and offenders who are paroled by the Virginia Parole Board.

Magistrates

Magistrates issue arrest warrants, search warrants, civil warrants, emergency mental orders, temporary detention orders, emergency protective orders, and subpoenas. They also admit individuals to bail or commit them to jail.

Magistrate services are available 24 hours a day. Magistrates currently handle cases in which the accused is over 18 years of age (with some exceptions). There are no charges for criminal processes.
