Campbell County Public Safety officials report the following regarding flash flooding in the area:
Bridge Re-Opened: The bridge on Route 460/Turkey Foot Road near the Bedford County line has been re-opened.
Contact with Flood Waters: Residents are reminded to avoid direct contact with flood waters and materials affected by flood waters as they may contain contaminants.
Correction: Structural damage
is reported for residences on
the following roads (not
to the VDOT roadway itself). Damage reported to residences was
primarily basement flooding or minor structural damage to the property.

Most roads are now open. Officials ask that drivers continue to use caution and stay alert while traveling. NEVER drive through flood waters or on road surfaces that appear to be unstable.
Do not go around barricades.
The following roads were reported as damaged/closed yesterday at some time during the weather event – however, traffic is proceeding normally on most roadways now:
- Timberlake Road (now open)
- Rainbow Forest Drive @ Indian Ridge
- Jefferson Drive (newly reported sinkhole about the size of a 5 gallon bucket- as of 7:45 a.m.- VDOT is on the scene.)
- Alum Springs at Carter Creek
- White Cypress Drive
- 460 (Townfork bridge & Alum Springs area)
- Greenwell Court
- Brooklawn Dr
- Moss Creek Drive
- Yellowstone Drive
- New London Drive
- Belmont Place @ Arrowhead
- Silver Springs Drive
- Farfields Drive
- Woodlawn Circle
- Polar Terrace
- Sunburst Road
Power outages: 427 structures (2%) were reported without power.
Injuries: There were no transportable injuries associated with this weather event.
Timberlake Dam: Officials report that Timberlake Dam remains secure.

Message from Public Safety Director: “There will be a lot of work needed to repair and clean up following this weather event,” said Tracy Fairchild, Public Safety Director. “However, the fact that we had no transportable injuries leaves us not only very grateful but also in deep appreciation of all those who responded so quickly to get residents out of harm’s way. I consider that a huge success. We thank each one who did their part to keep residents safe. We do ask residents to remain alert and cautious into the weekend as the ground remains saturated, which could cause delayed impacts.”
Public Safety teams will be in affected areas today assessing the overall impact.
