RUSTBURG, VA - Campbell County Department of Public Works announced at Tuesday's Board meeting that several transfer sites will begin accepting metal for recycling over the next week.
"Campbell County is excited to partner with Elite Recycling, LLC, to offer metal recycling to our citizens," stated Brian Stokes, Director of Public Works. "We've made improvements at many of our transfer sites to increase the ease of recycling for those who choose to, and we are hopeful that this is yet another way we can increase convenience for our residents, and decrease the amount of trash being sent to our landfill."
Stokes also notes that the metal recycling containers will be placed at the Altavista, Evington, Gladys, and Three Forks transfer sites. All metals will be accepted, including small appliances, with exception to electronic devices (for example, computer monitors/towers, and/or televisions).
"More importantly," Stokes adds, "metals do not have to be sorted. If the object can fit in the recycling bin, and the citizen can place it there themselves, it can be recycled."
Recycling of other materials, such as plastic and cardboard is available at the Livestock Road facility, located at 427 Livestock Road, Rustburg, VA.
