CCVA News - CCPLS June Programs

RUSTBURG, VA - The Campbell County Public Library’s events and activities are free and open to the public. All upcoming programs for children, teens, and adults can be found at https://campbellcountylibraries.org

Some are highlighted below:

Summer Reading Kick-Off Party

Timbrook Library

Friday, June 6; 11 AM - 6 PM


Build a make-your-own Summer Reading kit with the “Color Our World” theme and enjoy games, decorations, and activities on the library patio. Geared toward children and teens and their families. Even if you can’t attend, you can still participate in the Summer Reading Program.


Summer Reading Kick-Off Events

SRML - Altavista: Sat., June 7; 10 AM - 12 PM. 

Rustburg Library: Monday, June 9; 3 - 5 PM

PHML - Brookneal: Thurs., June 12; 10 AM - 12 PM


If you can’t make it to the Summer Reading Kick-Off Party at Timbrook on June 6, you can visit another library to make your own “Color Our World” kit and celebrate! While supplies last. Geared toward kids/teens and their families. Even if you can’t attend, you can still participate in the Summer Reading Program.


Book + Art

Timbrook Library

Wednesday, June 11; 10 AM – 12 PM

Kids, teens, and families are invited to stop by and do art projects inspired by a book. All materials will be supplied. For ages 3 – 17 and their families.

Adult Bad Art Night

Staunton River Memorial Library

Friday, June 13; 6 – 7:30 PM


Leave your talent at the door, and make bad art. If you make something terrible enough, you might even win the Best Bad Art Award. All supplies and light snacks will be provided. For adults. Free but registration is required at https://secure.rec1.com/VA/campbell-county-va/catalog

Summer Solstice Lantern Sail

Timbrook Library

Friday, June 20; 8 – 9:30 PM


Come to the Timbrook Library’s patio with your family and celebrate the Summer Solstice by sailing paper lanterns on the Timbrook Park pond. Make crafts, take pictures, and create classic summer evening memories together. For all ages. Rain date is Wednesday, June 25.

Johnson Health Center Mobile Unit

Staunton River Memorial Library in Altavista

Friday, June 20; 9 AM – 3:30 PM


The Johnson Health Center Mobile Unit will be at Staunton River Memorial Library in Altavista for drop-in appointments. They accept Medicaid, Medicare, Tricare, Private, and sliding scale fees based on income.
