Our Public Safety team is monitoring this weather system closely. Our staff and volunteer crews are prepared should we receive higher 911 call volumes due to a storm impact over the weekend. As always we encourage residents to be aware of the conditions around them and take the needed precautions to stay safe. Have the needed supplies on hand should power loss become an issue. Stay home if possible if ice and larger snow accumulations affect our area. By not driving you minimize the risk to your safety as well as make the roadways safer and more accessible to emergency response crews and VDOT crews.
Remember to only call 911 with emergencies – this keeps Public Safety and volunteer emergency resources available to those who need immediate care and assistance. Report any power or internet outages directly to your service providers.
Tracy Fairchild, Director of Public Safety offers some practical advice. “When it comes to winter storms, some preparation in advance and common safety practices can help you enjoy a snowy weekend rather than have it create issues for you and your family. Plan to stay home and stay safe. Be aware and be prepared.”
